Christmas in the slum
Tis the season to be jolly!
I visited Ebute slum community today, they say Christmas is in the air but it didn’t feel like it here. Several children and families with no money to
celebrate the festive period.
Did you know that about 1.6 million Nigerian children are at risk of extreme hunger and starvation? And the current situation of our economy doesn’t make things any better.
This is why myself and my team partnered up with Life Is Us Inc. (a U.S based organisation focused on the empowerment of vulnerable women and children) to spread the holiday cheer through a cloth drive and food drive.
On the 24th of December, we hosted Christmas in The Slum outreach at the Ebute Slum where we distributed essential food items, clothes and shoes to vulnerable women and children.
The Outreach was successful with us reaching and catering to approximately 322 women and 150 children in the community. Because of your generosity and donations towards our work – vulnerable families had a jolly Christmas.
